    Let \(A\) be an Archimedean lattice-ordered algebra and \(D:A\to A\) be a linear operator. The set of all nilpotent elements of \(A\) is indicated by \(N(A)\). Moreover, whenever \(p\in\{ 1,2,\dots\}\), let \[ A^{p}=\{ a_{1}\cdots a_{p}:a_{1},\dots,a_{p}\in A\}. \] It was shown by \textit{P. Colville, G. Davis} and \textit{K. Keimel} [J. Aust. Math. Soc., Ser. A 23, 371--375 (1977; Zbl 0376.06021)] that if \(A\) is an \(f\)-algebra and \(D\) is positive, then \(D\) is a derivation if and only if \(D( A) \subset N( A) \) and \(D( A^{2}) =\{0\} \). Later, the reviewer proved [Order 19, No.~4, 385--395 (2002; Zbl 1025.06015)] that if \(A\) is an almost \(f\)-algebra and \(D\) is a positive derivation, then \(D( A) \subset N( A) \) and \(D( A^{3}) =\{ 0\} \). In the paper under review, the authors show that the aforementioned results remain valid for order-bounded derivations instead of positive derivations. It should be pointed out that these facts were obtained independently and alternatively by \textit{F. Ben Amor} [Positivity 14, No.~1, 123--134 (2010; Zbl 1204.06010)].
