The author introduced diads [see \textit{T. Kenney}, Appl. Categ. Struct. 17, No.~6, 567--590 (2009; Zbl 1201.18002)] as endofunctors \(T\) equipped with natural transformations \(T\to T^2\) and \(T^2\to T\) satisfying some axioms. Both a monad and a comonad give rise to a diad. The present paper deals with diads in greater detail. In particular, there are introduced algebras, coalgebras and dialgebras for a diad and there are studied their Eilenberg-Moore and Kleisli categories.
