Almost \(\mathbf D\)-complex or almost para-complex structures are manifolds with a \((1,1)\) tensor field such that \(J^2=1\). By reformulating work of Li and Shank from the almost complex to the almost \(\mathbf D\)-complex case, De Rham cohomology and its subgroups made up of the classes admitting invariant, resp. anti-invariant representatives with respect to the almost \(\mathbf D\)-complex structure, is treated.
