In this paper we examine the stability and vibration of a thin plate (rectangular, circular) of an elastic, soft ferromagnetic material in a transverse magnetic field. For simplification the plate is assumed to be isotropic, it is kept under isothermal condition and we neglect the effect of Lorentz forces, since the equations are linearized and the magnetic field is normal to the median surface of the plate. Also we neglect magnetostrictive effects and the effect of eddy currents since the changes of paramagnetic stability by damping is insignificant.
