    In his study of a 3-dimensional model of wind flow over low hills, the author needs several hundred thousands times evaluations of modified Bessel functions \(I_ 0\), \(I_ 1\), \(K_ 0\) and \(K_ 1\) for the arguments of the form \(x\cdot \exp (i\pi /4).\) For small \(x=| z|\), the usual power series give enough accuracy, while for large x, asymptotic expansions are enough when \(x>11\) for \(I_ n\) and \(x>8\) for \(K_ n\). To cover the whole range, the author divides it into 5 parts at \(x=0.01,1,8\) and 40, and applies tabulation and interpolation for the ranges \(x=0.01\sim 1\) (100), \(1\sim 8\) (281), \(8\sim 40\) (33), where the numbers in paranthesis mean the numbers of nodes in each interval. He compares the accuracy and efficiency to Temme's method, and concludes that his method is more efficient.
