The topic of this paper is volume distribution in high dimensional 2-convex bodies. A convex body \(K\) in \({\mathbb R}^n\) is called \(2\)-convex with constant \(\alpha\) if it is the unit ball of a norm \(\| \cdot\| _K\) on \({\mathbb R}^n\) with \[ \inf\left\{ 1-\left\| \frac{x+y}{2}\right\| _K: x,y\in K,\;\| x-y\| _K\geq\varepsilon\right\}\geq \alpha\varepsilon^2 \] for all \(0<\varepsilon\leq 2\) (example: unit balls of \(L_p\) spaces for \(1<p\leq 2\), with constant \(p-1\)). First, the authors give a new proof for Schmuckenschläger's positive solution of the Slicing Problem for 2-convex bodies. Then, among other results, they show that for 2-convex bodies the isotropic position is a finite volume-ratio position, and that 2-convex bodies in John's maximal-volume position are `essentially isotropic'. Further, it is proved that high-dimensional 2-convex bodies have one-dimensional marginals that are approximately Gaussian. (Later, \textit{B. Klartag} [Invent. Math. 168, 91--131 (2007; Zbl 1144.60021)] has proved such a result for all convex bodies; but for 2-convex bodies, the present paper provides better estimates.) Finally, the authors improve known bounds on the isotropic constant of quotients of subspaces of \(L_p\) and of Schatten class spaces \(S^m_p\), for \(1<p\leq 2\).
