The well known Gauss-Bonnet theorem on Riemannian manifolds establishes a relation between the curvature and the Euler characteristic of the manifold. It was extended first on boundary less Riemann-Finsler manifolds with Landsberg type metric by \textit{D. Bao} and \textit{S. S. Chern } [Ann. Math. (2) 143, No.~2, 233--252 (1996; Zbl 0849.53046)]. This was a direct generalization of the Riemannian case and was extended again to Landsberg surfaces with a smooth boundary by \textit{S. V. Sabau} and \textit{H. Shimada} [Advanced Studies in Pure Mathematics 48, 125--162 (2007; Zbl 1144.53093)] of this paper the authors relate the topological character of the base manifold \(M\) \((\dim M=2)\) to the Chern connection 1-forms in the case, when the length of the indicatrix is not constant. Finally, in Theorem~5.1 a Gauss-Bonnet type formula is proved for Riemann-Finsler surfaces \(M\) with regular pointwise \(C^\infty\) boundary and nonconstant indicatrix volume.
