The authors study the mean curvature equations of type \(-M u = H + \lambda u^p\), where M denotes the mean curvature operator and \(p\) is a real number, greater than or equal to 1. They prove existence of an extremal parameter \(\lambda^*\) such that this equation admits a minimal weak solution for all values of \(\lambda\) between zero and \(\lambda^*\) and none for the case \(\lambda > \lambda^*\). Several additional important consequences are presented, including that, for the radially symmetric case, the minimal weak solutions represent classical solutions for all values of \(\lambda\) between zero and the critical value \(\lambda^*\). The paper is very well organized, and appropriate in length and detail; the statements and proofs are very clearly presented.
