The authors define the tangential Chow form of a variety \(W_ k\subset P_ N\) of dimension k, in \(G(N-n,N+1)\), where N-1\(\geq k\geq n\). They give an intrinsic geometric characterization of the tangential Chow forms. For a hypersurface \(X\subset G(N-n,N+1)\) with homogeneous equation F in the Plücker coordinates they give precise equations F must satisfy for X to be a Chow form. Finally, for \(X\subset G(2,4)\) they derive Cayley's condition on Chow forms of space curves.
