Automatic generation of symbolic expressions for the stresses in two- dimensional rectangular strips using Airy stress polynomials (Q1106685)

The present work implements an algorithm that determines the coefficients of the stress function in a certain sequence without solving any system of simultaneous equations and without integration. The algorithm is capable of solving two-dimensional problems with rectangular domains, using Airy stress polynomials. This algorithm combined with a symbolic processing language yields a very efficient, easy to use program capable of producing closed form solutions. This program can be used as a part of an instructional computer aided design package. A similar approach for wedges is possible but generates sets of simultaneous equations.
