The dynamics of adaptive control systems with a reference model is studied under conditions in which the reference model and the basic circuit are not identical and the system is under the action of a harmonic test signal. The phase space of a very simple system is considered, and it is found to contain homoclinic structures which are responsible for the occurrence of quasiperiodic motions.
