The paper under review is the latest of a series of important works by the author [Izv. Akad. Nauk SSSR, Ser. Mat. 48, 1042-1059 (1984; Zbl 0586.16010), Algebra Logika 26, 597-641 (1987; Zbl 0646.16013)] where the author applies the techniques of \({\mathbb{Z}}_ 2\)-graded algebras to PI- algebras. The main result is the following. Let \(\Gamma\) be a \({\mathbb{Z}}_ 2\)-graded T-ideal of the free algebra over a field F of characteristic 0 and let \(\Gamma \supseteq T[M_ n(F)]\) for an n. Then there exists a finite-dimensional \({\mathbb{Z}}_ 2\)-graded algebra A such that \(\Gamma =T[A]\). - The following important consequence is obtained. If a variety of associative algebras is generated by a finitely-generated algebra, then it is also generated by a finite-dimensional algebra.
