It is shown that for every continuous initial function \(y_ 0: [-1,0]\to R\) and for every reals \(a_ 1\), \(a_ 2\) there exists a unique solution of the third order neutral delay differential equation of the form (1) \(d^ 3/dt^ 3(y(t)+ py(t- 1))= -qy([t-1])\), \(t\in [0,\infty)\), such that \(y(t)= y_ 0(t)\) for \(t\in [-1,0]\) and \(y(1)= a_ 1\), \(y(2)= a_ 2\). Here it is assumed that \(p\) and \(q\) appearing in (1) are real constants and the symbol \([t]\) denotes the integer part of the number \(t\). Moreover, it is proved that the equation (1) is not asymptotically stable.
