Vibration of an axially moving beam with a tip mass (Q1324615)

The present formulation uses the Lagrangian approach and the assumed mode method to derive the dynamic equation of an axially moving beam with a tip mass. A simple series of single-term polynomials is used for the assumed mode in place of the beam functions used in the reported studies. The effect of tip mass is examined using numerical simulations for various prescribed axial motions of the beam.
