This paper is devoted to obtainment of a general solution for mixed-mode loads of a rectangular crack under shear loading. In using the singular integral equation method and solving the integral equation, the unknown functions are approximated by a product of polynomials and fundamental densities. The stress field is induced by a body force doublet used as a fundamental solution. The obtained integrals have hypersingularities of the form \(r-3\). The fundamental densities are chosen to express 2-D cracks in an infinite body for the limiting cases of the rectangle. Numerically, the unknown coefficients are determined, using the collocation method. It is shown that the present method well satisfies the boundary conditions throughout the crack surfaces, and yields rapidly converging numerical results. Smooth variations of mixed-mode stress intensity factors along the crack front are shown for varying crack shape and Poisson's ratio. The numerical results are presented for a rectangular crack under shear and tensile loading (separately), and rectangular crack inclined to the remote tensile field.
