The authors propose an SIR epidemic model with a constant removal rate of the infective individuals to understand the effect of the treatment capacity on the disease transmission. This study reveals that it is unnecessary to take such a large treatment capacity. In addition, the outcome of disease spread may depend on the position of the initial states for certain range of parameters. Mathematically, it is shown that the model exhibits Bogdanov-Takens bifurcations, i.e., there are saddle-node bifurcation, subcritical Hopf bifurcation, and homoclinic bifurcation even though the incidence rate is bilinear. Some interesting numerical simulations are also involved in this paper.
