Bases and dimensions of bivariate hierarchical tensor-product splines (Q1931448)

Using hierarchical tensor-product grids in two dimensions, bivariate spline spaces on such grids are studied with respect to their basic properties. These include the dimensions of the aforementioned spaces (with a formula that depends on the number of cells, in and along the perimeter, degree, number of holes and connected components), suitable basis functions, feasible characteristic data and B-spline bases.
