The authors develop the concept of a quasisolution to the scattering boundary value problem for conducting envelopes, screens and dielectric obstacles. The use of dissipative operators in constructing iterative schemes for the quasisolutions of surface integral equations is essential to this concept. This approach is generalized to the discrete-sources method for determining amplitudes. Convergence and solvability of linear systems are validated.
