Let \((X,d)\) be a metric space. Motivated by the work of \textit{E. Durand-Cartagena} and \textit{J. A. Jaramillo} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 363, No.~2, 525--548 (2010; Zbl 1200.46030)], the author considers the algebra of complex-valued pointwise Lipschitz functions. The author gives a necessary and sufficient condition under which this space is complete with respect to an appropriate norm. For complete spaces, it is also shown that, analogous to Theorem~1 in [\textit{H. Kamowitz} and \textit{S. Scheinberg}, Stud. Math. 96, No.~3, 255--261 (1990; Zbl 0713.47030)], an endomorphism induced by a self-map \(\phi\) of \(X\) is compact if and only if \(\phi\) is a pointwise supercontraction.
