The authors study the following nonlinear magnetic Schrödinger equation \[ -\left(\nabla +iA(x)\right)^2u+\left(\lambda V(x)+Z(x)\right)u=f\left(|u|^2\right)u\quad \text{in }\mathbb{R}^2, \] where \(\lambda>0\), \(f\colon\mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}\) is a continuous function with exponential, critical growth, \(A\colon \mathbb{R}^2\to\mathbb{R}^2\) is the magnet potential which belongs to \(L^2_{\text{loc}}(\mathbb{R}^2)\) and the potentials \(V, Z \colon \mathbb{R}^2\to \mathbb{R}\) are continuous functions satisfying additional assumptions. By applying variational tools, the authors show that if the zero set of the potential \(V\) has several isolated connected components \(\Omega_1, \ldots, \Omega_k\) such that the interior of \(\Omega_j\) is nonempty and \(\partial\Omega_j\) is smooth, then for \(\lambda>0\) large enough, the equation has at least \(2^k-1\) multi-bump solutions.
