Let \(X\) be a Banach space. In the linear case, \textit{A. Nahoum} [in: Sémin. Maurey-Schwartz 1972-Espaces \(L^p\) Appl. radonif., Exposé XXV, 7 p. (1973; Zbl 0264.60023)] showed that a bounded linear operator \(T:l_{1}\rightarrow X\) is \(2\)-summing if and only if \(T\circ M_{a}:l_{2}\rightarrow X\) is \(2\)-summing for each \(a\in l_{2}\), where \(M_{a}:l_{2}\rightarrow l_{1}\) is the multiplication operator defined by \(M_{a}\left( x\right) =ax=\sum_{n\in \mathbb{N}}a_{n}x_{n}\). In the present paper, the author generalizes Nahoum's theorem to the multilinear case. He proposes two multilinear variants which are described in two theorems. Theorem 1. A multilinear bounded \[ T:l_{1}\times \dots\times l_{1}\times X_{k+1}\times \dots\times X_{n}\rightarrow Y \] is multiple \(2\)-summing (\(2\)-dominated, resp. \(2\) -summing) if and only if \[ T\circ \left(M_{a_{1}},\dots,M_{a_{k}},\operatorname{id}_{X_{k+1}},\dots,\operatorname{id}_{X_{n}}\right) :l_{2}\times \dots\times l_{2}\times X_{k+1}\times \dots\times X_{n}\rightarrow Y \] is multiple \(2\)-summing (\(2\)-dominated, resp. \(2\)-summing). For the proof, the author uses the Maurey-Rosenthal factorization theorem. This last theorem characterizes each bounded linear operator \(u:l_{2}\rightarrow l_{1}\) by the existence of a bounded linear operator \(v:l_{2}\rightarrow l_{2}\) and an element \(b\in l_{2}\) such that \(u=M_{b}\circ v\). As a consequence of Theorem 1, the author gives a new proof of the well-known result that says: Each bounded \(m\)-linear operator \(T:l_{1}\times \dots\times l_{1}\rightarrow H\) is multiple \(2\)-summing where \(H\) is a Hilbert space. In the second multilinear variant of Nahoum's theorem, the author substitutes in Theorem 1 the multiple \(2\)-summing (\(2\)-dominated, resp \(2\) -summing) operator by multiple \(1\)-summing (\(1\)-dominated, resp \(1\)-summing) ones. The last part of this paper is devoted to give some examples and applications of the last results.
