Let \(\mathbb{Q}_p\) be the field of \(p\)-adic numbers (\(p\) a prime number) equipped with its \(p\)-adic valuation. Let \(\mathbb{Z}_p\) be the ring of \(p\)-adic integers. We fix a measure \(dx\) by the condition \(\int_{\mathbb{Z}_p} dx =1\), which leads to a Hilbert space \(L_2(\mathbb{Q}_p)\). Any real function \(x \in \mathbb{Q}_p \mapsto u(x) \in \mathbb{R}\) generates an operator \(M_u\) in \(L_2(\mathbb{Q}_p)\) as the operator of multiplication by \(u(x)\). Also, a pair of functions \(u\) and \(v\) generates an operator \(T_{u,v} = M_u + F M_v F^{-1}\), where \(F\) is a certain Fourier transform operator. In [Theor. Math. Phys. 89, No. 1, 1024--1028 (1991); translation from Teor. Mat. Fiz. 89, No. 1, 18--24 (1991; Zbl 0780.47038)], the author studied conditions under which \(T_{u,v}\) is a self-adjoint operator. The aim of the present paper is to investigate the asymptotic form of the function \(t \mapsto\) tr exp \((- t T_{u,v})\) as \(t \to 0^{+}\), assuming that the functions \(u,v\) are bounded below. The asymptotic formulas that he obtains suggest a similar behaviour to the real case (i.e., when \(\mathbb{Q}_p\) is replaced by \(\mathbb{R}\)). However, there is an essential difference: deriving asymptotic formulas for \(\mathbb{R}\) requires a rather hard work, but the derivation when working with \(\mathbb{Q}_p\) is very easy. The author also indicates another approach to the problem, based on a generalization of the \(p\)-adic Brownian motion and the Feymman-Kac formula that he previously gave in [loc. cit.].
