Consider the category \(Sch/k\) (resp. \(Sm/k\)) of schemes (resp. smooth schemes) over some field \(k\) admitting resolution of singularities. There is a reasonable continuous map \(\pi:(Sch/k)_{cdh}\to (Sm/k)_{Nis}\) of sites with intervals [cf. Prop. 3.9 in \textit{V. Voevodsky}, J. Pure Appl. Algebra 214, No. 8, 1384--1398 (2010; Zbl 1194.55020)] and a corresponding inverse image functor on the pointed homotopy categories: \[ \mathbf{L}\pi^*_\bullet: H_\bullet((Sm/k)_{Nis},\mathbf{A}^1)\to H_\bullet((Sch/k)_{cdh},\mathbf{A}^1). \] The aim of this note is to prove first that this inverse image functor is a localisation. Then, it is shown that for a morphism \(f\) in the pointed homotopy category such that \(\mathbf{L}\pi^*_\bullet(f)\) is an isomorphism of categories, the first simplicial suspension \(\Sigma^1_s(f)=f\wedge id_{S_s^1}\) is an isomorphism.
