The paper considers a simple star graph consisting of two half-lines and one internal edge of length \(\varepsilon\). The graph is equipped with a Schrödinger operator with the potential on the half-lines equal to 0 near the central vertex and 1 away from it and the potential on the internal edge of a more general form (\(\varepsilon\)-dependent). The \(\delta'\)-coupling condition at the central vertex and Dirichlet or Neumann boundary condition at the loose end of the internal edge are considered. The aim is to find the behaviour of the operator as \(\varepsilon \to 0\). The authors determine the coupling conditions of the limiting operators and find the asymptotics of their resolvents. Moreover, they find conditions determining if there exist eigenvalues converging to the threshold of the essential spectrum; these conditions are given by the positions of the jump of the potential on the half-lines, the potential on the internal edge and the coupling parameter.
