This paper considers the singularly perturbed boundary value problem \(\varepsilon v''+f(x)v'+g(x)v=0\), \(v(-a)=\alpha\), \(v(b)=\beta\), in the nonresonance case \((f(x)\neq 0)\) as well as in the resonance case \((f(0)=0\), \(f'(x)<0\)). This problem is written as an equivalent integral equation \(\varepsilon u=\int^ b_ ak(x,s)[u(s)-h(s)]ds\), which is used to compute the first order terms of a formal solution \(u(x)=\sum^ \infty_{j=0}\varepsilon^ j[y(x)+z_ j(\eta)+w_ j(\zeta)]\), where \(\eta=(x+a)/\varepsilon\) and \(\zeta=(b-x)/\varepsilon\). The method is exemplified on the equation \(\varepsilon v''-xv'+nv=0\).
