A typical result is the following (Theorem 2): Let \(D\) be a convex algebraically open subset of a real vector space \(X\) and \((Y,K)\) an order complete vector space. Then a mapping \(f: D\to Y\) is midconvex iff it has Jensen support everywhere. Here \(D\subseteq X\) is algebraically open if, for all \(x_ 0\in D\), \(x\in X\) there exists an \(\varepsilon>0\) such that \(tx+(1-t)x_ 0\in D\) for all \(t\in]-\varepsilon,\varepsilon]\). A set is order complete if it is ordered and every nonempty subset, which is bounded from above, has a least upper bound. A mapping is midconvex if it satisfies the Jensen inequality and \(f\) has Jensen support at \(x_ 0\in D\) if there exists a midconvex \(h\) such that \(f(x_ 0)=h(x_ 0)\) and \(f(x)\geq h(x)\) on \(D\).
