Let \(E\) be an elliptic curve over a number field \(K\). It is well-known that the \(K\)-rational points of \(E\) form a finitely generated Abelian group; the rank of which is called the Mordell-Weil rank of \(E\) (over \(K)\). In the present paper the author derives a lower bound, conditional on the ``parity conjecture'', for the number of quadratic twists of the curve \(E\) which have Mordell-Weil rank at least two. The proof is based on a sieve-theoretical investigation about the representation of square- free algebraic integers by a homogeneous binary form with coefficients in \(K\). The main idea is a reduction to the one-variable case, where the author uses arguments and results given by the reviewer in [J. Number Theory 32, 307-320 (1989; Zbl 0686.12001)]. In the special case of the rational number field, similar results have already been established by the author and \textit{B. Mazur} in [J. Am. Math. Soc. 4, 1-23 (1991; Zbl 0725.11027)].
