In this very interesting paper, the author considers quasilinear operators \(T\) of \textit{joint weak type} \((a,b:p,q)\) (in the sense of Bennett and Sharpley) and studies their properties on spaces \(L_{\phi,E}\) with the norm \(\| \phi(t)f^{\ast}(t)\|_{\tilde{E}},\) where \(\tilde{E}\) is an arbitrary rearrangement-invariant space with respect to the measure \(dt/t.\) A space \(L_{\phi,E}\) is said to be ``close'' to one of the endpoints of interpolation if the corresponding Boyd index of this space is equal to \(1/a\) or to \(1/p.\) For all possible kinds of such ``closeness'', the paper gives sharp estimates for the function \(\psi(t)\) so as to obtain for every \(T:L_{\phi,E}\to L_{\psi,E}.\) As an example of such an estimate contained in the paper, we give the following: Let \(a<p,\) \(b<q\). We will mention the point \((a,b)\) as the left endpoint and the point \((p,q)\) as the right endpoint of the interpolation problem. We also use the notation \(\phi(t)= t^{1/p}\alpha(t)= \frac{t^{1/a}}{\widetilde{\alpha}(t)},\) and \(\gamma (t)=\beta (t^{1/m}).\) Then it follows: If ``near'' the right endpoint of interpolation \[ \gamma (t)\sim \alpha(t) (\ln \frac{e}{t})^{-1} \] and the inequality \[ \frac{1}{\alpha(s)}\int_{0}^{s}\gamma(t)\frac{dt}{t}\sim 1 \] holds, then the Calderon operator \(S:L_{\phi,E}\to L_{\psi, E}\) is bounded for any r.i. space \(E\) (see Theorem 5.1.).
