Weighted and unweighted least-squares solutions of linear matrix equations (Q1262082)

The author considers the solution of the usual types of matrix equations. He uses some results about the minimization theory of traces of vector quadratic forms to obtain particular solutions of the matrix equations, and gives a procedure to compute fixed-rank solutions and symmetric solutions. These procedures are illustrated by numerical examples.
