Let \(f:\mathbb C \rightarrow \mathbb C\) be the quadratic polynomial \(f(z) = e^{2 \pi i \theta} z + z^{2}\), where \(\theta\) has continued fraction expansion \(\theta = [a_{1},a_{2},a_{3},\cdots]\). Assume that \(\theta\) is an irrational of bounded type, i.e. \(\sup a_{i} < \infty\). Then, the map \(f\) is conformally conjugate to a rotation near the origin by Siegel's result (1942). The maximal domain \(D\) on which this conjugacy takes place is the \(Siegel disk\) for \(f\); it is the component of the interior of the filled Julia set \(K(f)\) containing the origin. Let \(c_{0} = -e^{2 \pi i \theta}/2\) be the critical point of \(f\), \(c_{i}=f^{i}(c_{0})\) and \[ P(f)=\overline{[c_{1},c_{2},c_{3},\cdots]} \] the postcritical set. Some results in this paper are the following: (1) The Julia set \(J(f)\) has Hausdorff dimension strictly less than 2. (2) If \(\theta\) is a quadratic irrational, the boundary of the Siegel disk for \(f\) is self-similar about the critical point. (3) The dynamical system generated by \(f\) is also self-similar; \(f\) is attracted to a fixed point of renormalization.
