Let \(lu\) be the differential expression \[ lu=(-1)^mu^{(2m)}+p_1(x)u^{(2m-1)}+\dots +p_{2m}(x)u,\quad x\in[0,1]. \] Denote by \(L\) the operator determined by this expression with domain comprising the functions \(u(x)\) of the space \(W_p^{2m}([0,1])\), \(p\in [1,\infty)\), which meet the conditions \[ L_iu\equiv \alpha _iu^{(n_i)}(0)+\beta _iu^{(n_i)}(1)+T_iu=0, \quad i=1,2,\dots ,2m-r,\;0\leq r\leq 2m \] \[ \int_{0}^{1}\varphi _{i-2m+r}(x)u(x) dx=0,\quad i=2m-r+1,\dots ,2m. \] Here, \(\alpha _i\) and \(\beta _i\) are complex numbers such that \(|{}\alpha _i|{}+|{}\beta _i|{}\neq 0\); \(n_i\) are integers, \(0\leq n_1\leq\dots \leq n_i\leq n_{i+1}\leq\dots \leq 2m-1\); \(T_i\) are continuous linear functionals on \(W_p^{n_i-1}([0,1])\); and \(\{\varphi _k(x)\}\) is some system of independent continuous functions given on \([0,1]\). The main result is the theorem of how the norm of the resolvent \((L+\lambda I)^{-1}\) of \(L\) behaves at large values of the complex parameter \(\lambda \) in the \(L_p\)-space (this theorem was known for regular boundary conditions, i.e. in the case \(z=0\)). Besides, the author gives a theorem on the solvability of an initial-boundary value problem for a parabolic equation with spatial part \(lu\) and boundary conditions as above.
