Let \(G\) be a split reductive connected algebraic group defined over a non-archimedean local field k. Let the derived group \([G,G]\) be assumed to be simply connected. Define \(X=G/U\) where \(U\) is the group of k-points of a maximal unipotent subgroup of \(G\). Let us further define the Schwartz space \(S(X)\) of \(X\). It is shown that all elements of \(S(X)^I\) which are invariant with respect to the Iwahori subgroup \(I\) of \(G\), coincide with the space generated by the elements of the periodic Lusztig basis. This space is further interpreted in terms of some equivalent \(K\)-group.
