The paper starts by giving a brief introduction to the full Kostant-Toda lattice theory, including a description of the \(k\)-chop integrals, the torus embedding \(\Psi_\Lambda:(\epsilon+{\mathcal B}_-)_\Lambda\to\text{SL}(n,\mathbb C)/B\), and the momentum mapping \(\mu: G/P\to (\text{Lie }\,T)^*\), where \(T\) is a torus, together with the momentum polytope of \(G/P\). Here \(\mathcal B_-\) is the lower triangular subalgebra of \(\text{sl}(n,\mathbb C)\) and \(\epsilon\) is the matrix whose entries on the superdiagonal are equal to 1 and whose remaining entries are zero. The paper investigates how all these quantities behave under the action of the natural outer automorphism \(\sigma,\sigma^2=\text{id}\), of \(\text{SL}(n,\mathbb C)\). ''This study finds that in the case of \(A_n\) the involution \(\dots[\sigma]\dots\) preserves all the \(k\)-chop integrals. Under the torus embedding, the involution is well-defined on the set of torus orbits in the flag manifold, and in terms of the momentum mapping, it induces the antipodal map on the weight polytope.''
