Suppose a sequence \((T_n)_{n= 0}^\infty\) of continuous self-maps of a closed convex pointed cone \(K\) in a Banach space is given. Conditions implying that any two orbits of the dynamical system \(\{x_{n+1}= T_n(x_n), x_0\in K\}\) with different starting points \(x_0\), \(y_0\) say are asymptotically equal are discussed. The same conditions imply weak ergodicity of the system of \(K\setminus\{0\}\) and its path-stability (in the sense \(\lim_{n\to\infty}\|x_n- y_n\|= 0\) for any \(x_0,y_0\in K\setminus\{0\}\)) provided there is a bounded orbit. These conditions may be slightly relaxed in the case of concave operators \(T_n\) yielding the path-stability on \(K\). The results are applied to study some demographic models in the context of the nonlinear extension of the Coale-Lopez theorem.
