The authors obtain the existence of multiple solutions of some asymptotically linear equations \(-\Delta u= g(x,u)\) in \(\Omega\) with Dirichlet boundary conditions. They include some cases of resonance at infinity. The idea is to construct some solutions of fixed sign and then further solutions by Morse theory. Reviewer's remark. Alternative proofs of some of these results could be given by using the ideas of \textit{H. Hofer} [Math. Ann. 261, 493-514 (1982; Zbl 0488.47034)] as in the preprint of the reviewer and \textit{Yihong Du} [On sign changing solutions of certain semilinear elliptic problems, preprint, University of New England (1993)].
