    The authors consider the initial boundary value problem for an incompressible bipolar fluid in a bounded domain \(\Omega \subset \mathbb{R}^n\) \((n \leq 3)\) i.e. \[ \rho {\partial v_i \over \partial t} + \rho v_j {\partial v_i \over \partial x_j} + \mu_1 {\partial \over \partial x_j} \Delta e_{ij} (v) = - {\partial p \over \partial x_i} + {\partial \over \partial x_j} \bigl( \gamma (v)e_{ij} (v) \bigr) + \rho F_i \text{ div} v = 0 \text{ in } \Omega \times (0,T) \] \[ \mu_1 {\partial e_{ij} (v) \over \partial x_k} \nu_j \nu_k - \mu_1 {\partial e_{lj} (v) \over \partial x_k} \nu_j \nu_k \nu_l \nu_i = M_i \quad v = g \text{ on } \partial \Omega \times (0,T), \quad v (\cdot, 0) = h, \] where \(e_{ij} (v) = {1 \over 2} (\partial v_i/ \partial x_j + \partial v_j/ \partial x_i)\) is the deformation tensor and \(\gamma (v) = \mu_0 (\varepsilon + e_{ij} (v)e_{ij} (v)H)^{- \alpha/2}\). They prove the existence of a weak solution via the Galerkin method. Under additional assumptions on the data the authors also obtain regularity results and the uniqueness of their weak solution. Finally, the weak solution is proven to be asymptotically stable in the sense that it decays exponentially to zero provided the same is true for the data.
