Let \({\mathcal P}rtop\) be the category of pretopological spaces and continuous mappings. It is shown that an object of an epireflective subcategory \(\mathcal C\) of \({\mathcal P}rtop\) is exponential just when it is finitely generated in \(\mathcal C\). An analogous result of Lowen-Colebunders and Sonck for coreflective subcategories of \({\mathcal P}rtop\) is discussed. Further, it is proved that any finitely productive topological subconstruct of \({\mathcal P}rtop\) containing some not finitely generated net space is not cartesian closed.
