    The author proves asymptotic formulas for sums of the type \[ \sum_{n\leq x,n \equiv l\pmod k \atop(*)} \chi(n) \] where \(\chi\) is a multiplicative function, \(k,l\) are coprime and \((*)\) stands for: (1) \(f_\kappa (n) \equiv s_\kappa \pmod {p_\kappa}\), \(1\leq \kappa \leq\nu\) or (2) \(f_\kappa (n)= q_\kappa\), \(1\leq \kappa \leq\nu\); here \(f_1, \dots, f_k\) are suitable additive functions (examples: \(\omega, \Omega)\). The proof uses Selberg's analytical method and generalizes results of H. Delange, A. Ivić, G. J. Rieger and G. Tenenbaum. A generalization to algebraic number fields has been given in the paper reviewed below (Zbl 0887.11041).
