This paper is concerned with the bound for the number of points in a cubature formula exact for all polynomials up to a given degree. The authors observe that some gaps are presented between the lowest number of points of known cubature formulas and the highest lower bounds. This fact is focused on two simple 2-dimensional regions: a unit square and a triangle, both with constant weight function.
