Boundary value problems with global projection conditions. (Q1423440)

Let \(X\) be a compact, smooth manifold with smooth boundary \(\partial X\). A new calculus of boundary value problems for \((X,\partial X)\) is regarded. The calculus covers the case of pseudodifferential boundary value problems with general interior symbols, without the condition of the transmission property at the boundary. A new algebra of boundary value problems is introduced. It contains Shapiro-Lopatinskij elliptic conditions as well as global projection conditions. It is proved that every elliptic operator admits elliptic conditions of that kind. Corresponding boundary value problems are then Fredholm operators in suitable scale of spaces. The construction of related parametricies is described.
