Linear, finite-dimensional neutral delay-differential control systems with constant coefficients and single point delay in the state variables are considered. Using the Lapunov method and the theory of linear differential equations with deviating argument, asymptotic stabilization via observer-based controller is discussed. It is proved that the closed-loop system is asymptotically stable independently of the delay. Finally, a numerical example is given to illustrate the closed-loop controller design method proposed here. Moreover, many remarks and comments on the stabilization problem for delayed control systems are presented. Finally, it should be pointed out that similar problems have been discussed in the papers [\textit{J.-H. Park} and \textit{S. Won}, ``A note on stability of neutral delay-differential systems'', J. Franklin Inst. 336, 543--548 (1999; Zbl 0969.34066) and ``Asymptotic stability of neutral systems with multiple delays'', J. Optimization Theory Appl. 103, 183--200 (1999; Zbl 0947.65088)].
