    The aim of the paper is to prove stability results for the functional equation \[ f(x+p,y+q)=\varphi(x,y)f(x,y), \tag \(*\) \] where \(f:(0,\infty)\times (0,\infty) \to \mathbb R\), \(p,q\) are fixed positive numbers and \(\varphi:(0,\infty)\times (0,\infty) \to (0,\infty)\) is a suitable function. The main results are the following. Theorem 1: If a function \(g:(0,\infty)\times (0,\infty) \to \mathbb R\) satisfies the inequality \[ |g(x+p,y+q)-\varphi(x,y)g(x,y)|\leq \delta \] for all \(x,y>n_0\) (\(n_0\) is a non-negative integer), where the function \(\varphi:(0,\infty)\times (0,\infty) \to (0,\infty)\) is such that \[ \gamma(x,y)=\sum_{j=0}^{\infty} \prod_{i=0}^j \frac{1}{\varphi(x+pi,y+qi)} \] is bounded for \(x,y>n_0\), then there exists a unique solution \(f\) of equation \((*)\) with \[ |g(x,y)-f(x,y)|\leq \gamma(x,y)\delta \] for all \(x,y>n_0\). Theorem 2: Let \(g:(0,\infty)\times (0,\infty) \to (0,\infty)\) be a function that satisfies the inequality \[ \Big|\frac{g(x+p,y+q)}{\varphi(x,y)g(x,y)}-1 \Big|\leq \psi(x,y) \] for all \(x,y>n_0\), where the function \(\varphi:(0,\infty)\times (0,\infty) \to (0,\infty)\) is such that \[ \gamma(x,y)=\sum_{j=0}^{\infty} \prod_{i=0}^j \frac{1}{\varphi(x+pi,y+qi)} \] is bounded for \(x,y>n_0\), and \(\psi:(0,\infty)\times (0,\infty) \to (0,1)\) is a function such that \[ \alpha(x,y)=\sum_{i=0}^{\infty} \log(1-\psi(x+pi,y+qi)) \] and \[ \beta(x,y)=\sum_{i=0}^{\infty} \log(1+\psi(x+pi,y+qi)) \] are bounded for \(x,y>n_0\). Then there exists a unique solution \(f\) of equation \((*)\) with \[ e^{\alpha(x,y)}\leq \frac{f(x,y)}{g(x,y)}\leq e^{\beta(x,y)} \] for \(x,y>n_0\).
