The authors study the following Dirichlet problem involving the \(p(x)\)-Laplace differential operator \[ \begin{aligned} -\text{div}\,\left(|\nabla u|^{p(x)-2}\nabla u\right) & = f(x,u)\quad \text{in } \Omega,\\ u&= 0\quad\text{on } \partial \Omega, \end{aligned}\tag{1} \] without supposing the Ambrosetti-Rabinowitz condition. Under a new growth condition, which is needed in order to show the Cerami compactness condition, the authors show the existence of solutions to problem (1) via critical point theory and state some multiplicity properties.
