Bantay's trace in unitary modular tensor categories (Q2404635)

The main result in this paper (Proposition 2.4) is a string-diagrammatic proof of a formula, asserted without proof in [\textit{P. Bantay}, Phys. Lett., B 394, No. 1--2, 87--88 (1997; Zbl 0925.81331)], that presents the self-braidings in a unitary modular fusion category (UTMC) in terms of the modular data (i.e. the fusion rules and the S and T matrices). The result is used to study the question of whether the modular data determines the UTMC.
