A metric space (X,d) is said to be convex iff there is a function W: \(X\times X\times [0,1]\to X\) such that \(d(u,W(x,y,\lambda))\leq \lambda d(u,x)+(1-\lambda)d(u,y)\), for any u,x,y\(\in X\) and \(\lambda\in [0,1]\). The author proves several theorems on the convergence of Ishikawa type iterative schemes to unique fixed points of nonexpansive mappings defined on subsets of convex metric spaces. Several remarks compare the present results to earlier ones.
