    Fix \(\delta>0\). Let \(\psi\) be a fixed fuction satisfying the three conditions: (i) \(\int_{\mathbb R^n}\psi(x)\,dx=0\), (ii) \(| \psi(x)| \leq C(1+| x| )^{-(n+1-\delta)}\), (iii) \(| \psi(x+y)-\psi(x)| \leq C| y| (1+| x| )^{-(n+2-\delta)}\) for \(2| y| <| x| \). Letting \(\psi_t(x)=t^{-n+\delta}\psi(x/t)\), the author defines the multilinear Littlewood-Paley operator \(S_\delta^A\) by \[ S_\delta^A(f)(x)= \left[ \iint_{| x-y| <t}| F_t^A(f)(x,y)| ^2\,\frac{dy\,dt}{t^{n+1}}\right]^{1/2}, \] where \[ F_t^A(f)(x,y)= \int_{\mathbb R^n}R_{m+1}(A;x,z)| x-z| ^{-m}f(z)\psi_t(y-z)\,dz, \] and \[ R_{m+1}(A;x,y)=A(x)-\sum_{| \alpha| \leq m}(\alpha!)^{-1} D^\alpha A(y)(x-y)^\alpha. \] The author claims the following: Let \(0\leq\delta<n\) (perhaps \(0<\delta<n\)) and \(D^\alpha A\in \text{BMO}(\mathbb R^n)\) for \(| \alpha| =m\). Then \(S_\delta^A\) is bounded from \(L^{n/\delta}(\mathbb R^n)\) to \(\text{BMO}(\mathbb R^n)\), and from \(H^1(\mathbb R^n)\) to \(L^{n/(n-\delta)}(\mathbb R^n)\). Some related ones are also discussed. However, the reviewer could not follow the proofs of his claims. The second inequality in the page 129 is false. And there may be a gap in the proof of Lemma 2. He claims that the operator \(f\to\int_{\mathbb R^n}| R_{m+1}(A;x,z)| | x-z| ^{m+n-\delta} | f(z)| \,dz\) is bounded from \(L^p(\mathbb R^n)\) to \(L^q(\mathbb R^n)\), if \(D^\alpha A\in \text{BMO}(\mathbb R^n)\) for \(| \alpha| =m\), and if \(0\leq\delta<n\), \(1<p<n/\delta\), \(1<r\leq \infty\), and \(1/q=1/p+1/r-\delta/n\). This holds for the case \(0<\delta<n\), \(1<p<n/\delta\), \(r= +\infty\). However, for the other cases, the operator is not bounded from \(L^p(\mathbb R^n)\) to \(L^q(\mathbb R^n)\).
