The author considers the numerical solution of the Cauchy singular integral equation with constant coefficients and the generalized Prandtl (singular integro-differential) equation on a finite interval by spline collocation methods. The Cauchy principal value integrals are approximated by using the quasi-interpolatory splines introduced by \textit{T. Lyche} and \textit{L. L. Schumaker} [J. Approximation Theory 15, 294-325 (1975; Zbl 0315.41011)]. The paper presents results on the uniform convergence of these approximations. Furthermore, the details of the collocation process are discussed, whereas the questions of stability and convergence of the numerical method remain open.
