On the cohomology of generalized triangle groups. (Q2388658)

The authors consider the generalized triangle groups \[ G(\ell,m;n)=\langle x,y\mid x^\ell=y^m=(xyx^{-1}y^{-1})^n=1\rangle \] with \(2\leq\ell\leq m\), \(2\leq n\). If \((\ell,m;n)\neq (2,2;n)\), \((2,3;2)\), \((3,3;2)\), \((2,4;2)\) and \((2,3;3)\) then \(G(\ell,m;n)\) has a faithful action on the hyperbolic 3-space \(\mathbb{H}^3\). Using this faithful action it is shown that there is a free \(\mathbb{Z} G(\ell,m;n)\)-resolution for \(G(\ell,m;n)\) if \((\ell,m;n)\) is not one of the above excluded triples.
