Using the classification of the finite simple groups, the authors give a classification of finite rational groups in which all elements of the same odd order are conjugate. As a consequence, they prove that a non-Abelian finite group in which all elements of the same order lying outside the center are conjugate is isomorphic to the symmetric group of degree three. This result generalizes a theorem of \textit{W. Feit} and \textit{G. M. Seitz} [Ill. J. Math. 33, No. 1, 103-131 (1989; Zbl 0701.20005)].
