Inner totally positive matrices (Q703630)

The author considers the concept of inner total positivity. In Section 1, he describes the notation and basic theory used in this paper, concerning totally positivity and nonnegativity. In Section 2, he generalizes the results in Section 1 to inner totally positive (totally nonnegative) matrices. In Section 3, he considers a reduction of inner totally positive matrices to band form. In Section 4, he investigates the filling in an inner totally positive matrix so that it is totally positive. In Section 5, he gives some background and some application of this study. Finally in Section 6, he asserts that the concept of an inner totally positive matrix brings a clearer understand and a unification to the field of totally positivity.
